with drainage holes in the bottom. If you don't have any of the original nest material, fill the box or plastic container with leaves or grass clippings and lay the nestlings on the filling. Most birds have a poor sense of smell and will not reject their babies because you've handled them. Do not feed the nestlings any food or give them fluids of any kind. If the parents don't return in a few hours, call us.
Fledglings have feathers and hop around on the ground learning to fly. Leave them where they are. Their parents are usually nearby. If the fledglings are left unattended by their parents for hours or are in danger from predators (cats, dogs, birds of prey), call us.
If you suspect any bird has been biten by a cat, get the bird to us because it will need antibiotics.
